Prior to dieselization, CPR P1 Mikados seem to be the one of the most common locomotives I see pictured on the mixed train to Little Current. I have been looking for a good model for quite some time and managed to find a complete brass model in great running shape. These models are just beautiful. This one came with a plow pilot and I’ve had to switch it out and add a working front coupler but otherwise its just perfect. I’ll come back and touch up paint and maybe think about changing the road number when I have more time.
Up until this point the layout has been DCC. I have everything I need to convert this locomotive to DCC with sound but I’m not sure I will. This wonderful looking engine made me rethink how I power this layout. I’ve added a DPDT switch and an auxiliary plug to allow me to switch to DC power. It will also allow me to connect a computer with JMRI use other layout control options in the future.
