Little Current Layout track plan is getting transferred to the modules. I like to start with the most difficult combination of switches and then work out from there. The printed templates are very handy. I like to use track planning software so I know everything should fit but there are always surprises.

I’ve had to make some compromises on this small modular layout to ensure it looks close to the real yard while still running smoothly. The transitions between each module have to be planned carefully so you don’t end up with a switch right on the seam

I also had to make some comprimises to make this a operational model railroad. Because there isn’t a swing bridge to the Turner Yard Wye, I’ve added a runaround track so trains can deliver cars to the Imperial oil facility. I really enjoy some of the thinking that happens at this point and I know there will be a few places where I come back and make some changes – stay tuned.
