Module construction is never that exciting to post about but its crucial to everything that comes afterward. The three Little Current modules line up with brass table leaf pins and are mechanically connected with large neodymium magnets. They hold with about 25lbs of force. Electrical connection is made with another set of smaller neodymium magnets that are set inside of plastic housings I made with springs. Wires are soldered to the backs of the magnets – that was tricky. Alignment pins make sure the whole thing comes together square. The layout is in a multi-purpose room so its often stored away when not in use. With the folding tables and magnetic connection, the whole layout can snap together in about 5 minutes. The magnets are so strong I needed to add handles to the modules so I could get enough grip to pull them apart.
