Rails to Manitoulin: CP HiRail From McKerrow to Little Current

I came across this digitized recording posted to YouTube by Jeremy Hopkin. Its a wonderful film from 1992 riding a HiRail from McKerrow to Turner filmed by Keith Hopkin with George Dennis Jr. (George’s dad was a long time engineer on the AER/CPR line from Sudbury to Little Current). I’m always so grateful when people choose to share important pieces of Ontario history like this. I was able to connect with Keith on Facebook and he has been very generous with his knowledge. Converting and posting this content takes time, care and organization and I really appreciate those who choose to share their work.

The trip documents final days of the Little Current Subdivision south of Espanola and includes some great stories about the line. Its a fantastic look at the rugged and beautiful scenery along the rails and in this part of the country.
